They send out periodic reminder notices in the mail and on their app around 6 weeks before your card expires. You can apply for a renewal 6 months prior to the expiry date of your current photo card. Your NSW photo card will be valid for 5 years from the issuance date, or if you’re older than 21, for 10 years from the issuance date.

If your NSW photo card was issued after November 26, 2012, you’re eligible for a free senior photo card. You will receive a refund based on the date you notify them that you hold a Seniors or Senior Savers Card.
